Rhythms of Brazil

Who says you need to take months to see the best of this Brazil? Throw the rulebook out the window, and go on a trip to see South America with its most mouth watering thrills packed into a few days.

Your first few days will be spent in the much loved ‘Marvellous City’, Rio de Janeiro. Rio is simply one of the most fascinating cities on the planet, packed with colour, vibrancy, and people dancing samba on the beaches that stretch the breadth of the city’s coastline.

Here you’ll be staying at the wonderful Porto Bay Rio. Our local guides will take you up the cable car to Sugar Loaf Mountain where you will enjoy spectacular views of the great metropolis before heading up Corcovado to view the Christ the Redeemer statue, the landmark that is as iconic as the city itself, where you’ll see this city from a different perspective, one you’ll never forget.

The next day you’ll board a schooner yacht for an excursion around Guanabara Bay. Charles Darwin once wrote ‘Guanabara Bay exceeds in its magnificence, everything the European has ever seen in his native land’. Sailing through the beautiful bay you’ll enjoy fabulous views of the coastline, passing Santa Cruz, the forts of São Teodósio and the extraordinary Contemporary Art Museum designed by Oscar Niemeyer.

Explore a world of secret islands and castaways

After a few days in this hedonistic city we’ll whisk you up the coast to the secluded bliss of Paraty, an area of natural treasures, swathes of beach and lush dense greenery.

Paraty is where the locals come to relax and explore, roving among a living piece of history. It’s not just the beaches, but the cobbled streets of its colonial centre that charms visitors. Your home for the next few days will be the colonial Pousada do Sandi. Our guide will show you the secret spots unknown to tourists.

Board a schooner for an adventure out to the archipelago of islands that really offer the feeling of being a castaway. Kickback, relax, and feel your cares melt away. Go swimming, snorkelling or fishing in its emerald green waters and explore the forests of these deserted islands. Head back to port as the sunset melts on the horizon.

Find your own paradise

Next stop is Salvador. Return by car to Rio de Janeiro and jet off north to this stunning Afro-Brazilin city. Here you will stay at the Solar dos Deuses.

Our guide will take you on an excursion to explore the old town, with its colonial mansions and churches painted in vivid colours. In the new town you’ll find never-ending stretches of beaches and shacks selling fresh coconuts to sip, a cool beer, a zesty caipirinha, or fresh oysters.

Head further up the coast to your next beach paradise, Praia do Forte and the hotel Sobrado da Vila, world famous for eco-conservation. You’ll have a free day here to relax at the beach or explore the area. If you come at the right time you can see baby turtles hatching in their nests in a protected area.

The glistening white sands stretch under palms that dot a path to castle ruins and the Sapiranga Forest Reserve. If you fancy something more adventurous take a hike, bike, or zip line through the trees.

The best is still to come

Fly up to Recife further north and head out to the historic town of Olinda. This is the perfect place to sit and soak in colonial Brazil in a stunning seaside setting, staying at the Pousada do Amparo. Our guide will be on hand to take you on a excursion through both Recife and Olinda.

Lastly fly to the National Marine Park of Fernando do Noronha, an achingly beautiful collection of 21 islands totalling 26 square kilometres, welcoming you to swathes of unspoilt beach. Spend the next few days at the Pousada do Vale. At this secret island paradise you can walking, swim, snorkel and relax at the beach away from the tourists. It’s also one of the best places to scuba dive on the continent. Return back to Recife for your onward flight.
