Lyubov Orlova

Built in Yugoslavia, refurbished in 1999 and further upgraded in 2002, the Lyubov Orlova is a 100-meter ice-strengthened cruise ship with a capacity of 110 passengers. Accommodation on board ranges from twin and triple cabins to superior cabins and suites. All rooms feature two lower berths and private facilities, porthole or a window, writing desk, sitting area, and ample storage. Public areas include a spacious forward lounge and bar, which also act as a gathering place for lectures and recaps of the day's adventures, a window-lined dining room which accommodates all passengers in leisurely single sittings, an infirmary and a well-stocked library. There are ample deck areas and promenades for excellent views of the passing wildlife. This spacious, comfortable ice-strengthened motor vessel has passive stabilizers for smooth sailing.

The Orlova maintains an ‘Open Bridge’ policy, which means that passengers are almost always welcome, weather permitting, to visit the Bridge at any time. Designed to explore some of the remotest corners in the world the Orlova is equipped with sophisticated communication and navigation equipment. She is crewed by Russian officers and crews highly experienced in ice navigation. They're joined by expedition staff and lecturers - internationally renowned experts on marine mammals, birds, and the history of polar exploration. European chefs provide an excellent and varied international menu and there is a good selection of beers, wines and spirits on board.
