Where to stay in Antarctica

All accommodation is aboard our expedition vessels. However, some cruises include one night in a hotel at the embarkation port. Please refer to the individual itineraries for details.

When not included, a pre-cruise overnight is still required and can be booked at the hotel of your choice (please refer to our Argentina and Chile hotel sections).

Hotels

Hotel Los Nires, Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina Hotel José Nogueira, Punta Arenas, Chile Hotel Finis Terrae, Punta Arenas, Chile Hotel Presidente, Buenos Aires, Argentina Carlton Hotel, Auckland, New Zealand Grand Chancellor Hotel, Hobart, Tasmania

For cruises which include an overnight in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, pre-cruise accommodation will be at the 4-star Los Nires Hotel. This hotel is situated on a hill overlooking the Beagle Channel about 2.5 miles (4 km) from the downtown area. Complimentary transportation to and from downtown is available. The hotel has an excellent restaurant serving regional specialties, such as merluza negre, king crab or Patagonia lamb. Laundry and cleaning services are also available and all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard and American Express) are accepted. On some voyages, there may be hotel substitutions, such as the Tolkeyen or the Albatross Hotel. We will advise you in advance of any hotel changes.

On the Antarctica by Plane programmes, a pre-cruise overnight is included in Punta Arenas, Chile, at either the Hotel Jose Nogueira or the Hotel Finis Terrae. The 4-star José Nogueira is located in the downtown and was declared a National Monument. It has a restaurant, bar, conference lounge, central heating and parking area. The rooms have television, telephone, minibar and security box. The 4-star Hotel Finis Terrae is also located in the downtown and has a restaurant, bar and conference lounge. The rooms have television, telephone, minibar and security box.

For those voyages that begin in Buenos Aires, Argentina, pre-cruise accommodation is included at the 4-star Hotel Presidente, located in the city centre. All rooms are air-conditioned, have cable/satellite TV, minibar and internet access.

In Auckland, New Zealand, pre-cruise accommodation is included at 5-star Carlton Hotel. This hotel is located 15 miles/25 km from Auckland Airport in the central business district. It is opposite Auckland's performing arts centre, the Aotea Centre, and less than a 5-minute walk to the shopping centre at Queen Street.

In Hobart, Tasmania, pre-cruise accommodation is included at 4.5-star, Grand Chancellor Hotel. This hotel is centrally located 9 miles/15 km from Hobart Airport on the waterfront.

If you require additional hotel nights before or after your cruise, we would suggest that you request these arrangements as early as possible as space may be limited.
