When to go

The climate of Belize is subtropical, with a brisk prevailing wind from the Caribbean Sea. The country has an annual mean temperature of 79°F, and the humidity is nicely tempered by the sea breezes.

High season coincides with the best weather from December to March when skies are clear and temperatures 25-30°C, though inland it can reach 38°C. Nights are cool and pleasant.

From November to January, there are cooler spells and high humidity with more insects.

The driest months are February to May. From June to July there is a likelihood of tropical showers followed by blue skies. In August there is a brief dry period.

Hurricanes can be an occasional risk along the coast from June to November. There are efficient local warning systems.
