Itinerary

Day 1: Punta Arenas
1.00pm - 5.00pm: Passengers check-in at Magallanes 990, Punta Arenas.
6.00pm - 7.00pm: Boarding "Mare Australis" expedition cruise ship. The crew, headed by the Captain, will welcome you aboard for cocktails with your cruise companions. Immediately after, the ship will depart towards the city of Ushuaia, through the mythical Strait of Magellan, sailing through the Patagonian Channels and around Tierra del Fuego. This is the beginning of a great adventure.

Day 2: Ainsworth Bay
With the first light of dawn, navigation will continue through Almirantazgo Fjord. We will disembark in Ainsworth Bay near Marinelli Glacier, where we will take a walk to see an elephant seal colony closely and we will also appreciate the Magellan Forests. Disembark in the Brookes Glacier Bay to hike near the glacier.

Day 3: Pia Glacier & Glaciers Avenue
We disembark in front of Pia Glacier. We will take a short walk to an observation point where we can also see more examples of the area's vegetation. The glacier and the array of icebergs, can be seen in all their glory. This glacier's source is in the middle of the Darwin mountain range and reaches the sea at Pia Bay. Disembark in the Pia Glacier Bay and take excursion to an observation point. Navigate through the Beagle Channel and enjoy the spectacular ‘Glaciers Avenue’.

Day 4: Cape Horn & Wulaia Bay
We sail through the Beagle and Murray Channels to reach and disembark in Cape Horn National Park, weather permitting. Cape Horn, on Hornos Island, is a sheer, 425 metre (1,394ft) high rocky promontory at the point where the Atlantic and the Pacific Oceans merge. This mythical place is known as the "End of the Earth"; a visit is a singular privilege. The park was declared a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in June 2005.

In the afternoon, we go ashore in historic Wulaia Bay, once the site of one of the region's largest aboriginal settlements. This area is also renowned for the mesmerising beauty of its vegetation and geography. We walk through a Magellanic forest of trees and ferns and other native vegetation to reach a lookout point.

Day 5: Ushuaia
Early arrival to Ushuaia, the most important Argentinean city on Tierra del Fuego island and the southernmost city in the world. Disembarkation after breakfast, from 8am onwards. Our great adventure ends.
