Travel independently around the highlights of Costa Rica. Though you will travel at your own pace, we provide you with an itinerary and make all your reservations. Local representatives are on call for added peace of mind.
Day 1: San José
Meet and greet at Juan Santamaría International Airport. Transfer to your hotel.
Lodging at the Country Inn.
Day 2: Turrialba
Breakfast. 9:00 am Pick up Toyota Rav4 car. Drive independently to Turrialba area, located 65 km east of San José. Lodging at Guayabo Lodge, standard room.
This region, with evenly distributed rains during the year, comprises a green mosaic of primary mountain-forests, biological reserves, natural and man-made forests, and coffee plantations.
Day 3: Turrialba
Breakfast. Day at leisure. Visit a sugar cane mill in season, or a coffee facility. One of the principal attractions of the area is a thrilling ride in a river raft or a kayak. Jungle and forest lovers commune with nature along various marked paths. `Horseback riders and cyclists find the ideal terrain for their outings. Nearby is the country's most famous archaeological site, the pre-columbian ruins of Guayabo National Park. Lodging at Guayabo Lodge, standard room.
Day 4: Heredia
Breakfast. Drive back to San Jose and take the main road into Heredia. Lodging at Poás Volcano Lodge, standard room.
Day 5: La Paz Waterfalls Gardens
Breakfast. Visit and enjoy the La Paz Waterfall Park. Lodging at Poás Volcano Lodge, Standard room.
Day 6: San Carlos
Breakfast. San Carlos offers a landscape of exceptional beauty with its forests, lagoons, fields of crops, rivers with hot springs, and the most active volcano of Costa Rica: Arenal.. Lodging at Volcano Lodge, standard room.
Near the base of the active Arenal Volcano on the north side of Costa Rica, world-renowned Tabacón Resort provides you with a relaxing and unparalleled experience, with its natural hot spring and thermal mineral water pools. Entrance to Tabacon Hot Springs with dinner.
Day 7: San Carlos
Breakfast. Day at leisure to explore the area or take optional tour: Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge, horseback riding, walking or hiking tours, canopy tours. Lodging at Volcano Lodge, standard superior room.
Day 8: Tamarindo, North Pacific
Breakfast. Drive to the North Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Tamarindo is known for surfing, fishing, sailing, snorkelling, ATV tours, horse tours, golf, tennis, canopy tours, wildlife tours, and many other night life activities. Lodging at Tamarindo Diria Hotel, Sunset Ocean View room.
Day 9 to 11: Tamarindo Beach Resort
Enjoy a three night leisure beach stay. Daily breakfast included.
Day 11: Departure
Breakfast. Drive back to San José and drop off the car at Juan Santamaria International Airport. International flight must depart after noon; otherwise an additional night must be included in San José.
