Amazon Rainforest extension

Extend your trip with an Amazon Rainforest pre or post tour extension

Day 1: Quito
Arrive Quito. Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel in Quito.

Napo Wildlife Centre

Day 2-5: Quito - Napo Wildlife Centre (Amazon lodge)
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the bustling town of Puerto Francisco de Orellana, locally known as Coca. Our staff will meet you and take you for a short transfer to the river port to embark on a covered motorized canoe. Here a comfortable breeze will company you on an approximate 2 1/2 hours boat ride along the largest Ecuadorian tributary of the Amazon: the Napo river. Many birds can be spotted along the way including herons, kingfishers, ospreys. As one travels we reach the more pristine forest part of the Yasuni Biosphere Reserve. Napo Wildlife Centre is the only lodge situated in this reserve and located by a beautiful lake. Depending on weather conditions, the journey from the river to the lake can be either a guided hike through the forest or a quiet and enjoyable paddle dugout canoe ride along dense flooded palm forest. Once we arrive at Anañgu Lake we have a superb view of the lodge waiting for you on the other side.

Full rainforest exploration activities are offered during the 3 or 4 night stay, with full board and incredible service. The lodge itself is beautiful with local architecture, hardwood floors and is surprisingly comfortable considering the remote location. Nearby hides (or blinds) built at parrot clay licks bring you close to one of the most spectacular natural events, the congregation of thousands of parrots: eating clay for the minerals and to absorb toxins. Plus a 120-foot canopy tower deep in the forest allows you to experience the life above the forest floor, and other natural attractions that are simply unmatched in Amazonian Ecuador: Monkeys, Parrots, and Giant Otters during the day, caiman spotting and star-gazing at night, with the comfort of a hot shower, tasty dinner, and a cold beer at the end of the day. This is the way to see the rainforest in comfort and safety.

Day 5: Coca - Quito
Transfer and flight back to Quito.
Transfer & stay at the Patio Andaluz or similar.

Note – A longer 6 day extension can be done post tour (4 nights in Amazon lodge) starting Wednesdays.
