We will be accompanied by experts on Darwin – Disembarking in the key locations related to Darwin’s expeditions in Tierra del Fuego
We are pleased to offer 2 special cruises celebrating the bicentenary year of Charles Darwin. You will join author/historian John Woram and other guest lecturers aboard the Via Australis as we cruise the Strait of Magellan, the Beagle Channel and explore some of the places seen by Charles Darwin on his famous Voyage of the Beagle.
Our special voyages will take place 16-19 October from Ushuaia, Argentina to Punta Arenas, Chile, and 19-23 October from Punta Arenas to Ushuaia. Or, you may combine both excursions for an 8-day, round-trip Ushuaia to Ushuaia adventure 16-23 October.
The route includes places where Darwin stopped on his navigation through the Patagonia and around Tierra del Fuego, like Wulaia Bay, and places such as Holland Glacier, Wollaston Islands and Italy Glacier where many of his observations and discoveries where made.
There will be a special exhibition on board the boat. Our guest lecturer’s will talk about different aspects of Darwin’s pioneering expeditions. You will learn about the flora, fauna, history, geography, glaciology and ethnography of this legendary region.

Oct 17 Cape Horn—"End of the Earth"—and Wulaia Bay, where Darwin landed in 1833.
Oct 18 Gunther Plüschow Glacier, Brecknock channel, Alakaluf Fjord, Piloto and Nina Glaciers
Oct 19 Magdalena Island, Punta Arenas disembark Via Australis.
Or you may combine both adventures into an 8-day cruise (with time to explore Punta Arenas in between).

Oct 20 Ainsworth Bay, Marinelli Glacier, Tuckers Islets.
Oct 21 Beagle Channel, Pia Fjord, Pia Glacier, "Glacier Alley."
Oct 22 Cape Horn—"End of the Earth"—and Wulaia Bay, where Darwin landed in 1833.
Oct 23 Disembark Via Australis in Ushuaia.
