Lake District

Southern Chile draws most visitors thanks to its scenic landscapes and beautiful lakes.

Crystal-clear lakes, white-water rivers, fertile valleys, monkey-puzzle forests, bubbling thermal springs and active snow-covered volcanoes create a wonderfully diverse region.

There are a number of towns that are a good base for fishing, hiking, rafting or relaxing in the hot springs. With our guide, you can explore the beauty of the many national parks and the many glittering mirrored lakes that give the region its name.

We can arrange a boat to cross over Todos los Santos Lake overlooking the Osorno volcano, one of the most scenic ways to travel into Argentina.

Puerto Montt is the starting point for the Carretera Austral, a road that carves through ancient woodlands to a pristine wilderness. Alternatively visit the nearby forested island of Chiloé with its unique folklore and traditions.

Try a visit to Temuco Feria, one of the largest and most interesting markets in Chile and meet the Mapuche people who arrive by ox cart to sell their produce. Our guides will take you to the cattle market to watch the local cowboys (huasos) in action.

If visiting Puerto Montt our local guides can take you to the fish market at Angelmo where you can enjoy giant mussels, abalones and crabs fresh from the ocean.
