The northern lowlands of Tortuguero national park on the northern Caribbean coast are a nature-lovers paradise, cut off from the rest of the country and only accessible by plane or boat. It’s one of the best places to see green turtles as they come ashore at night to lay their eggs, or later as their young hatch on the sandy beaches and make their way to back to the sea.
