The Cayes

The Cayes (pronounced ‘keys’) are a chain of small coral islands

They range in size from the almost comical one-palm-tree island all the way up to large inhabited islands.

Ambergris Caye is one of the larger islands with a number of exclusive hotels and guesthouses and has become a very fashionable destination, since Madonna wrote a song about the island’s town of San Pedro. Buildings are restricted to no more than three storeys which has kept the larger chain hotels out and maintained a village atmosphere.

Caye Caulker is another island with a genuinely laid-back atmosphere. Three atolls (Glover, Lighthouse and Turneffe) are a mecca for scuba divers, being close to the reef and the famous Blue Hole where you can dive deep.

Much of the reef is protected by the Hol Chan Marine Park, where rays and sharks abound. Our guides can take you scuba diving, snorkelling, boat trips, fishing and manatee watching among others. Of course if you’re feeling lazy, just sit back and enjoy some serious R & R.

For those looking for complete seclusion how about staying on your own island? On Cayo Espanto you can do just that at this exclusive and luxury private-island retreat.
