Costa rica
‘Pura Vida!’ meaning ‘pure life’ is the welcoming greeting you hear all over this tropical paradise, fitting for a country that embraces the natural world.
Take your pick from dense rainforests, rugged mountains, smoky volcanoes, misty cloud forests, refreshing waterfalls or vast stretches of white sandy beaches fringing two different Oceans. Anything is possible on your Costa Rican holiday.
Costa Ricans value their nation’s natural heritage and protect a larger proportion of the country than any other, with a national park system that has won worldwide admiration since its inception in 1970.
It’s also packed full of wildlife, sheltering an enormous 5% of the world’s flora and fauna. As a result, bird watching is highly rewarding, with innumerable species to see and hear, while other wildlife is also abundant, from tiny tree frogs to majestic jaguars, from the smallest bug on the forest floor to the howler monkey in the canopy.
Being a relatively small country, it’s possible to design trips which see a number of these eco-systems as well as having a ‘beach holiday’ to round it off. We have some incredible places to stay throughout the country from wooden jungle lodges to chic boutique beach hotels.
The locals, known as ticos, are the friendliest people you can meet and due to their enthusiasm make great guides. Apart from having lazy days on secluded beaches we can also build in bird watching, yachting, deep-sea fishing, cycling, ballooning, hiking, horse riding, scuba diving, snorkelling, sea kayaking or surfing (to name just a few) into your itinerary.
A great place for romantic getaways and honeymoons, family adventures, luxury breaks and activity holidays. Like all our Costa Rica holidays we start from a blank piece of paper and build an itinerary based around your tastes and budget.
When to go:
Costa Rica can be visited all year round but the best months would be between October and June
All our tailor made Costa Rica holidays are individually designed, but as a guide we can arrange a 12 day itinerary from £3,000 including flights.
