Colombia
There are many reasons to visit Colombia
Travellers on a Colombian holiday will marvel at the abundance of flora and fauna including the majestic Andean condor, white tailed deer, the spectacled bear and trogons.
It also has diverse landscapes, relax along the 3,000 km of Caribbean and Pacific coastline, trek through the steamy exotic rainforest or head to the hills and spend time in Colombia’s coffee country.
Most visitors start in the interesting colonial capital of Bogota. Try a visit to the Gold Museum which is superb or the salt Cathedral which is .. salty. Our local guides can advise on current events, like live music, that’s going on during your the course of your holiday.
Move away from the capital and there’s plenty more to see, from a mysterious lost city on the Caribbean coast to the strange archaeological treasure of San Agustin, graceful colonial city of Popayan or the mud volcano close to Cartagena. The islands of San Andrés, Providencia and Rosario offer exclusive beach relaxation.
All that’s before a visit to the land of coffee. Fertile valleys with seemingly endless coffee plantations, charming towns and traditional wooden houses with brightly coloured balconies. Waking up to the smell of freshly ground Colombian coffee direct from the fields surrounding you is something not to be missed.
For the intrepid, we can arrange bespoke expeditions down to the Colombian Amazon which boasts the same diversity of bird and wildlife as Ecuador and Peru. From the woolly monkeys that swing through the tree to a vast list of bird species like the famous quetzal.
Whether it’s diving along the Caribbean coast or islands, magnificent opportunities for climbing in world-class national parks, rock and ice climbing, trekking, paragliding, water sports, mountain biking or rafting, we can build any activity on offer into the perfect itinerary.
When to go:
Colombia can be visited at any time although try to avoid the wettest months of April, May, October and November. Christmas is a great time to travel in Colombia although it gets very busy.
All our tailor-made Colombia holidays are individually designed, but as a guide we can arrange a 12 day itinerary from £3,500 including flights.
