Gaucho day

The Day of the Gaucho on 10 November is celebrated every year across Las Pampas. Watch horse displays and polo tournaments and how a guacho really lives. Then get away from the city and experience life on the open range yourself but keeping a few home comforts.  Visit a working farm and become a guacho for a day, riding in the Andean foothills then coming back to an asado of steak barbecued in the great outdoors. Obviously with a great steak you need to have a great wine so why not sample the delights direct from the growers in Mendoza taking a gentle ride at your own pace around the vineyards.

The grateful dead

The Day of the Dead takes place on the 1st and 2nd of November each year, it is the time of the year when the souls of the dead are believed to return home to spend an evening with the living.  This celebration occurs throughout Mexico but one of the more unique examples is in the colonial town of Pátzcuaro. Families make their way across to Janitzio island in candle lit boats before making their way to the cemetery where they hold all night vigils upon the marigold covered graves of their ancestors bringing food and drinks in case these long passed spirits are in need of a little refreshment.
