The Trip

Day 1: Ushuaia – Arrive Ushuaia
Day 2: Ushuaia – Embark from Ushuaia
Day 3-4: At Sea – Crossing the Drake Passage
Day 5-6: Shetlands – Explore the South Shetlands
Day 7-9: Antarctic – Explore the Antarctic Peninsula
Day 10-11: At Sea – Cross the Drake Passage
Day 12: Ushuaia – Disembark

Day 1

Arrive in Ushuaia and spend the rest of the day exploring the city and surrounding area including the Tierra del Fuego National Park.

Day 2

This morning is free to relax. In the afternoon you will set sail on board the Sea Spirit along the picturesque Beagle Channel enjoying dinner as you navigate. The captain and crew with welcome you with a toast.

Day 3-4

The next few days will be spent crossing the Drake Passage. The ships stabilizers will make sure the crossing is as comfortable and calm as possible. This will not be wasted time. Along the way you can view sea birds including albatrosses and petrels that come to these krill-rich waters. A series of lectures and presentations will be held by polar experts to help you make the most when you arrive in the Antarctic.

Day 5-6

Today you will arrive in the South Shetland Islands and spend the next two days explore this fascinating archipelago. An exact itinerary will depend on weather and ice conditions by you will visit a number of different secluded bays and harbours where zodiacs will take you for landings and wildlife viewings. During your time here you should see four different penguins, six different species of seal and several whale species. Visit Neko Habour where adventurous travellers can take the ‘polar plunge’ or take a soak in the thermal waters on Deception Island.

Day 7-9

Arrive on the Antarctic Peninsula and navigate through the beautiful Lemaire Channel, also called ‘Kodak Alley’. During your time in the Antarctic visits to research stations will be included to help you can an idea of life in the Antarctic. At the Ukrainian base you will have the chance to try the pepper vodka, distilled on location. Zodaics will take you on cruises through Paradise Bay to view the many glaciers and you will set foot on the white continent itself at Hope Bay. Plenty of wildlife will be seen here including many penguin species, whales, seals and sea birds. There is an optional kayak excursion on offer to the adventurous.

Day 10-11

Your final days will be spent crossing back over the Drake Passage to Ushuaia. Along the way you can share stories with your fellow travellers, observe more wildlife from deck and ask questions to the Antarctic experts. Enjoy a farewell dinner.

Day 12

Disembark after breakfast at Ushuaia.
