Hot Springs

Tabacón has Costa Rica´s largest network of volcano heated naturally flowing hot springs. Guests enjoy the natural hydrotherapy by exploring the numerous river pools, with varying temperatures and river flows, as well as the sounds and sights of native flora and fauna. Hotel stays feature extended hours in the thermal area. Guests over 18 years of age have access to the Shangri-La Gardens, an adult only hideaway.

Rooms

Tabacón’s 105 climate-controlled guest rooms and suites feature Costa Rican woods and beautiful furnishings handcrafted by Costa Rican artisans. Rooms overlook gardens, the forest or the volcano. Each of the contemporary rooms is set in tropical surrounds. Entry-level Orchid Rooms feature cosy living spaces, Rainforest Rooms come with a freestanding bath and outdoor terrace, and Tabacón Suites feature four-poster beds, a hot spring shower and a spacious patio or balcony. The hotel also offers Honeymoon Suites and family-friendly Two Bedroom Suites. Are ideal for families seeking more space, with a separate dining and living room. Sleeping areas include a master bedroom with a king bed and a terrace overlooking the impressive rainforest and a second bedroom with two queen beds.

Dining & Drinking

Expect Costa Rican favourites and international cuisine in a choice of two restaurants. Bars come with their own food menus and lots of drinks options including wellness cocktails, fresh juices, sparkling wines and rich rums. Head to Ave for casual lunches and dinners – seafood, shrimps, salads and burgers. Located in the resort’s hot springs area, enjoy an informal atmosphere.

Tucanes Restaurant – Under high ceilings and with open sides, Tucanes specialises in à la carte dining with the choice to book a seven-course Costa Rican tasting menu. Dress Code: For evening dining we recommend that gentlemen refrain from no-sleeves shirts. Swim wear and flip flops are not permitted for gentlemen or ladies.

Three choices of bar: Agua Ardiente Pool Bar – The main pool’s swim-up bar comes with a menu of seasonal seafood, classic nachos, mocktails, cocktails and tropical juices. Caña Brava Bar – A simple bar in the hotel lobby specialising in rums and artisan cocktails. Bosque Bar – Tapas and signature cocktails in an indoor/outdoor setting.

The Spa

The spa is located adjacent to the thermal springs, with open treatment bungalows tucked away within the trees. The Spa Treatments are driven by natural and local ingredients including coffee, volcanic mud, pineapple, avocado and thermo-mineral water. Cabanas come with two beds, the perfect set up for couples massages. Every spa treatment is preceded by a Tabacón signature spa ritual promoting a state of complete relaxation including a selection of teas, smoothies and the opportunity to unwind in the relaxation room with its mineral water jacuzzi. With a spectacular network of hot springs on your doorstep, wellness is taken care of. The thermal waters range in temperature from 22°C to 40.5°C and offer natural hydrotherapy that increases blood circulation and oxygen flow.

Sustainability

Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa has always had a vision for a sustainable future and back in 2009 it was certified as carbon-neutral. The hotel is 100% LED and is powered by solar panels. As guardians of an incredible natural setting, they have programmes in place that include environmental species tagging, reforestation and sustainable gastronomy. Their thermal waters are naturally heated by the volcano and mineralised underground whilst the spa uses local, natural and organic ingredients.

Adventure

Impressive rainforest views, waterfalls and the majestic Arenal volcano right on the doorstep. Arenal is a must-see destination ideal for adventure. Some optional adventure activities include hiking, whitewater rafting, zip-lining, waterfall rappelling, hanging bridges and more. Adventure Tours are offered by an external tour operator.
