Selva Verde Lodge

Selva Verde is a lodge within a rainforest reserve. Nearby are some of the most accessible rainforests in the area, where you can experience tropical nature. Selva Verde is a nature-lovers heaven and attracts hikers, birders, wildlife enthusiasts and adrenalin seekers alike. It is committed to a sustainable future the flora, fauna, and the people of Sarapiquí. The elevated buildings and walkways allow exploration of 500 acres of primary and secondary rainforest with low impact.

There are a total of 40 River Lodge rooms, 4 bungalows and 1 suite. Each room has a ceiling fan, safe, ensuite bathroom with solar-powered hot water, telephone, hairdryer. Bungalows and the Rainforest Suite have air-conditioning and private balconies or verandas. Here one can soak up the jungle atmosphere. Please note the bungalows are located about 600 metres from the main lodge building and are set on a steep hillside, so are not suitable for client of limited mobility.

There are many adrenalin-based activities on offer. Take your pick of hiking, river rafting, horse-riding, zip-lining, cookery and chocolate classes or visits to indigenous communities.

The lodge has two restaurants serving local and Mediterranean food and there is a pool for cooling off, alongside a shallow pool for younger children to enjoy. Catch up with other guests at the bar in the evening to share your experiences.

In the region are many beautiful species of birds such as parrots, quetzals, hummingbirds. Bird watch from your room or venture out on one of the trails to see much more. Costa Rica is a home to over 300 species of birds, 120 species of mammals, sloths and howler monkeys amongst them, countless frogs and iguanas and thousands of insects. There is plenty here for wildlife enthusiasts to see: tapirs, lizards, bats, butterflies, toads and if you are lucky, wild cats.
