Mountain Lodges of Peru

For serious hikers, the Salkantay lodge trek is a chance to do the trek, staying in comfortable lodges. This operates on fixed dates between March and December and is also available as a horseback ride. The altitudes of the lodges go progressively lower from 3,869m to 2,135m.

There are 4 cosy lodges: Salkantay, Wayra, Colpa and Lucma. All include beautiful rooms with hot showers and a comfortable bed, boots cleaned after each day’s trek, outdoor hot tubs, and optional massages, while the delicious meals include a traditional pachamanca (earth oven). During the trek, snacks and hot picnics are served in picturesque surroundings.

Each mountain lodge is one of a kind. The eco-minded architecture mixes traditional Andean building techniques with contemporary design to blend seamlessly into the environs.

Guest rooms offer top-notch amenities. Hot showers, gourmet meals, fine linens, outdoor hot tubs, and highly personalized service from local staff. A key strategy is to empower, train, and employ as many locals as possible to become travel industry professionals.
