Vibrant Lima

Touch down in Lima, Peru’s vibrant capital. Our local guides in Lima will be on hand to show you the very best hidden secrets of this city. You’ll see pre-Hispanic temples, colonial mansions and its myriad of different districts. There’s almost one for every mood, Barranco is a bohemian neighbourhood and packed with curious cafes, nightclubs, pubs and music. Santiago de Surco boasts forgotten wine cellars going back more than 100-years. During your time in Lima you will stay at the wonderful Quinta Miraflores.

Iconic amazon

Next stop: the Amazon. Take a scenic flight over to the port town of Puerto Maldonado and canoe down to the Reserva Amazónica Lodge, your home for the next few nights. During your stay here there is plenty of choice through which you can explore the rich trees-capes, either by canoe, trekking or swinging through the trees Tarzan-Style. You will also have the opportunity to visit a local indigenous tribe to learn about their way of living.

Inca empire

Return along the river to board your flight to the Inca capital of Cuzco.

Our guides will be waiting to whisk you away to the Costa del Sol Wyndham. Its old city is worth a visit in its own right, with cobbled streets, colourful markets, and buzzing nightlife. You can get a taster for the Inca Trail by exploring Cuzco’s nearby ruins, swathed in the blissful silence that you can only experience in this part of the world.

In the shadows of the great explorers

Our guides will pick you up and take you to the spectacularly beautiful Sacred Valley. Within no time you’ll be bartering like a local at the famous market in Pisac before heading over to Ollantaytambo, the last inhabited Inca town. You’ll have a couple of days staying at the Sol y Luna in your own private cabana. Explore the area on your own terms, hiking or cycling through the region or even paragliding over the lakes and Inca terraces.

Ancient ruins

Thoroughly refreshed you’ll continue on your journey by boarding the train up to Aguas Caliente. Spend the night getting pampered at the Inkaterra before heading up to Machu Picchu early in the morning. Our local guide will bring the ruins to life on a private tours whilst also giving you time to explore on your own. There are plenty of hot springs in town to take a soak should you wish. Late in the afternoon you’ll board the train to head back down to Cuzco for another night at the Costa del Sol Wyndham.

All aboard

Board the Andean Explorer (Orient Express) train to Puno. Enjoy the scenery while travelling in the beautiful 1920’s style wagon train with Pullman seats. A three course meal will be served during the journey and you’ll have time to sit in the observation wagon. As soon as you pull into Puno our local guide will whisk you away to the GHL Hotel Lago Titicaca on the shores of Lake Titicaca.

Mysteries of the lake

The next morning you’ll head out on a boat to visit the reed islands of Uros. Meet the local people and learn about their way of living and why it is that they live on these man made islands. You’ll continue on to the island of Taquile to meet the self supporting Aymara community. As you arrive, they’ll show you around this sacred island before you can enjoy a delicious local homemade lunch. Take the time to explore the island by yourself before heading back to Puno.

Colca and beyond

Your journey continues to the Colca Valley. You’ll stay at the Colca lodge where you’ll have a couple of nights of pure indulgence with full use of the spa facilities including the natural thermal hot springs. Our guides will take you on an adventure in the local area including a visit to the famous Colca Canyon to watch the condors that majestically sweep just a few metres above and below you.

The white city

The last stop on this luxury tour of Peru is the white city of Arequipa. Here you’ll stay at the fantastic Casa Andina Premium and take the time to enjoy the fantastic cuisine. Our guides will show you around the city as well as taking you to the fascinating city within a city, the monastery Santa Catalina. You can also meet the 500-year old Juanita the ice maiden at the museum. Only to soon you’ll be heading to the airport for your flight back to Lima and onward journey home.
