Lima’s secret gems

When you touch down in Lima our local guides will be waiting to whisk you away to the Casa Andina Select in the upmarket district of Miraflores.

The best of the day is free to explore at your own pace. Head out into town to enjoy Lima’s excellent cuisine and nightlife.

An afternoon city tour of the city can be arranged should you wish.

Fly into the Amazon

The following day you will be taken to the airport for your short scenic flights to the Amazonian port town of Puerto Maldonado. You’ll be met at the airport by our jungle guides who’ll take you to the port to board the motor canoe for an exhilarating journey downstream to the lodge, Reserva Amazónica.

Over the coming days you’ll be treated to a vast array of activities to really get to know the jungle better. Take hikes into the Amazon to learn about the flora and fauna and early morning canoe trips to see the jungle coming to life. You will also have the opportunity to visit a local indigenous village to learn more about the local way of life, their customs, traditions, food and basic hunting skills. These few days are not set in stone, you can make up your own adventure as and when you wish with the help of our local guides.

To the mighty Andes

After a few days in the jungle you’ll return back to Puerto Maldonado by canoe to board your flight on to Cuzco in the Andes. As Cuzco is at quite a high altitude, you’ll spend the first couple of days staying at the Picoaga, taking gentle walks to the local ruins and around town to get fully acclimatised. Cuzco’s a great city, full of sunny plazas, interesting markets and excellent cuisine and nightlife. There’s enough to keep you entertained during your stay.

Trek to an ancient wonder

By now you’ll be itching to put on those hiking shoes and get trekking up to something that’s on most peoples travel bucket list, Machu Picchu. The Inca Trail is the most famous route to get to the ruins on foot. You will be accompanied for the duration of the five day trek with a support crew including a guide, cook and porters as well as being provided with all necessary equipment.

Our expedition guides will pick you up from the hotel and can arrange porters to carry your things if you wish to just enjoy the hike and take in the spectacular scenery. The next few days will be challenging for very rewarding. You will pass through spectacular landscapes, mountain passes and many interesting Inca settlements. At the end of each day, the camp will be set up for you and delicious meals will be prepared so you will have time to relax.

On the last day you will arrive at the town of Aguas Calientes and get your first glimpse of the ancient wonder of the world you’ve come to see. You will enjoy a guided tour as well as having plenty of time to explore at your own pace. Spend the night at El Mapi.

Back to reality

The following day you will have a morning free to either revisit the ruins or take a soak in the many hot springs in the town. In the afternoon you will return by train to Cuzco where you will spend another night at the Hotel Costa del Sol. On the last day you will fly back to Lima in time for your return flight home.
