Antarctica is said to be the coldest, driest and windiest place on earth. However, this immense wilderness is also a fabulous and virtually pristine paradise for wildlife with an incomparable scenery of mountains, snow and ice. The continent has lured explorers, adventurers and scientists for more than two centuries and - more recently - world travellers.
Our Antarctic cruises are on the smaller expedition ships which offer a choice of one to three week trips. You will not only be sailing the Southern Ocean but landing at least twice a day to observe the wildlife. For those in search of adventure, there are adventurous options available, ranging from kayaking, trekking, and camping to diving.
Taking advantage of the long days at the height of the Austral summer, we explore vast colonies of penguins, observe some of the great whales, watch hundreds of seals resting lazily on ice floes, and marvel at the extraordinary variety of shapes, sizes and colour of icebergs. The vistas are magnificent, with towering glaciers and dramatic cliffs that drop almost vertically into the sea.Amenities on board our expedition ships are comfortable, though not luxurious. The crew are experienced in ice navigation, with European service staff and chefs.
Each trip is enhanced by lecturers expert in fields such as bird-watching, glaciology, geology, and history. Our selected cruise operators have a proven track record of safety and environmentally friendly travel.
