This next day you’ll be whisked away for a trip through the Amazon plains visiting the Samaipata pre-Inca ruins and stroll through the town visiting the museum. Heading back to Santa Cruz you’ll take a morning trip through Mairana to La Yunga in the Amboro National Park, with its giant fern forest.

delving deep

Back from your mini Amazon adventure you’ll jet off to Sucre where our local guide will be waiting to show you the city. True to style, you’ll be spending the next few nights in a great hotel, the Villa Antigua Hotel. After taking a visit to Cal Orck’o to see the world’s largest paleontological site you’ll continue on to Potosi, one of the highest towns in the world. Don’t worry you’ll have some time to acclimatise at the Hotel Santa Teresa before delving deep into a mine to see the remains of the silver production in the famous silver mountain.

bizarre landscapes

Crossing the high Andes mountain range, the next stop is Salar de Uyuni. The next two nights will be spent at the salta hotel, Palacio de Sal. Dust yourself down for more desert adventure at the Salar de Uyuni, a vast landscape of open plains and mystical wonder. Take a trip to Incahuasi Island, an eerie landscape that seems to be part of another planet – teeming with cactus plants and volcanic rock. Cross gaping azure lagoons, before you arrive at the desert in Siloli where you can explore the great expanse of the dry landscape.

Bolivia’s chaotic capital

Continuing across the Andes you’ll arrive into Bolivia’s capital, La Paz and the Hotel Rosario. Our local Bolivian guide will show you La Paz’s secrets including its witch markets. You’ll also take a visit out to Tiahuanaco visiting the temple of Kalasasaya, Gate of the Sun, monoliths Ponce and Fraile and Akapana pyramid.

serene lake

The second to last night will be spent on Sun Island in the middle of Lake Titicaca. Crossing over by boat to this un touched island your home will be the Ecolodge La Estancia. Using the hotel as a base you’ll do hikes along the lake edge as well as taking excursions to Moon Island and Inak Uyu ruins. Feeling refreshed and renewed you’ll return to La Paz for one last night before taking your onward journey back to reality.
